The 2021 North Carolina State Convention is a GO! The recent changes in the state mandated COVID restrictions have allowed us to move forward with having a convention. It will be August 20-21 at the Hilton Raleigh North Hills.

The convention may look somewhat different from those of years past but the enthusiasm, excitement, and fun will be just like always. We are so ready for dancing to start back up once again and looking forward to the socialization aspect of our chosen activity. Our friends have been missed and what better opportunity to reconnect than a state convention?

The Hilton has been our partner for many years. Their revenue does depend upon booked room nights. This is one reason that we have been able to hold the convention registration fee to low levels as compared to others. The hotel lost much revenue last year when they allowed us to cancel the convention with no monetary penalties.

Please consider supporting the hotel this year when making plans to attend the convention. Even if you live close, consider a “get away” weekend and book a night or two. This will help not only the hotel but help defray the dance hall rental expenses for the convention. Your support is greatly appreciated and we thank you in advance.

As we emerge from our COVID cocoons we understand that there may be concerns about personal protection. We plan to follow the current state and hotel venue guidelines at the time. Square dancing is just starting back up in neighboring states and we want to catch up soon. It is understood that we all may be somewhat rusty but we will get through this together.

You can stay abreast of changes by visiting this website or our facebook page “North Carolina Square Dance Convention”. Register early and also make your reservations early.  This allows us more opportunity to plan accordingly for a schedule that will best fit our needs.

We'll update our plans here as they develop! See you in August!
